About

Prologue: Where this story begins

Imagine you are sitting at the table with your family on a Sunday afternoon flicking through old photo albums looking at the moments that were captured years ago (pre-digital camera times). You get to a page and there is a little boy smiling happily off the page at you and you smile back thinking how cheeky he must have been then. But there are only a few photos on the page of this little boy, and you don’t know who he is or why he is in the family album.

This is the sad situation for Lydia and her family as this little boy, Abel Tomas, was only with them for a few short years. And for Lydia, she never got to meet this smiling little boy as he was gone before she was born.

Chapter 1: For Abel Thomas

The story about this little boy is the motivation for Lydia in her photographic business. From the way that she captures the real you in each image, to the desire to create lasting images that tells the stories of you and your family, or you and your business.

For Abel Photography is named for his legacy, so he can have a story beyond the short years of his life.

Chapter 2: A love of landscapes

Beginning in High school, Lydia had a fondness for photography, now inspired by the stunning landscapes of her farming property in the Barossa Valley where she lives with her husband and 3 children.

Her love of landscape photography has never diminished, and the process of capturing landscapes continues to evoke a sense of calm amidst her business of life.

With the arrival of her first child, she developed a newfound passion for taking photos of people and capturing a moment in the story of their lives.

Acclaims & Accolades

Lydia’s prowess for capturing stunning images has been recognised far beyond the Barossa Valley with her work being used for cover images in the ABC’s, The Organic Gardener Magazine and the SA Women’s inaugural magazine.

Multiple Barossa publications have showcased Lydia’s work, and she was crowned as the official photographer for the Tanunda Show for 5 years. One of Lydia’s greatest photography projects has been as a contract photographer for the Australian Breastfeeding project, supporting the National Breastfeeding Awareness and normalisations campaigns.

Lydia is an award winner for both her photographs and her business. Taking out places in the annual Barossa Valley calendar and photographic competitions. Lydia has been nominated for awards with SA Woman, 2022 finalist in AusMumprenuer awards, SA Regional Business awards and was listed in the Top five SA Photographers in 2021.

Chapter 3: A Bespoke Business Approach

Since the arrival of her Children, Lydia has broadened her photographic repertoire and has now made a name for herself in business photography for local SA businesses and assisted them to tell their business and brand stories with her bespoke VIP client experience.

These business photographic sessions have helped her business clients to connect with their ideal customers in a way that traditional business photography fails to achieve.

Don’t take our word for it…

Belinda & Jason

Lydia is a very talented photographer with a gift for capturing ‘that moment’.  We have had newborn family photos done and then a few months later the whole family on my partners side. So patient with the kiddies, we highly recommend Lydia as we are in love with the precious moments of love and laughter she has captured.
